Today we left O’Cebreiro at 7:45 a.m. and walked to Triacastela (which used to have 3
castles, but no more!) WE found the
coolest accommodations, Casa David,
which is little “cottages” with our own little garden and huge wash tub (with
lye soap?) and clotheslines (turns out, we have to share the washtub and the
clotheslines!) It’s lovely! We have flowers and birds and wrought iron
benches to sit on. There’s also a round
stone table with round stone benches (all white) in the center of the garden!
We showered and washed clothes and hung them out to dry.
We’d stopped for
lunch at Fonfria, cold fountain, for
a little lunch—some of their Caldo gallego—and to e-mail Angela and
Miriam. Angela sold her house and bought
one in Seattle—God is good! Today is
their 6th Anniversary, Praise God!
At Mass, I was the
English reader for the Emmaus reading; There was a French, an Italian and a Spanish
(1st Reading) reader, as well. (They were NOT the normal readings for
today. It guess they only have one
that’s been translated into all the different languages.
