Today we left our lovely Casa Rural Mamerto, and headed to Estella. It was sunny—a bit chilly and very windy, but no rain! The road led uphill quite a bit, so we were very anxious to finish those last “3.2 km” to Estella.
On the way, in Puente la Reina, we met friendly pilgrims resting on the ancient bridge, Puente de los peregrinos. They offered us nuts. When we later offered them some of our almonds, they further gave us some salsison, similar to Italian salami. One of the guys was from Majorca, another from near Barcelona, and the third, I don’t remember.
The Camino today took us through Maňeru, Cirauqui, Lorca, Villatuerta, and, finally, Estella.
We had a cone on the Plaza, and a wonderful pilgrim’s meal. We’re always given a full bottle of wine for the two of us…and we often finish it!
