Happy Independence Day!
Today after breakfast, we left Palas De Rei, PTL!  It was a hard up and down that led us to Ribadis after 8 hours, only to find the Pension full!  So, we walked on for another 3.1 km to Arzúa and found a Hostal O’Retiro (newly renovated and very nice), Praise God!
Don wanted to stop for lunch in Melide at the Pulpería Exequiel for a “genuine experience” of the regional specialty, octopus!  It was O.K., but a little gross in my book!  The cook would boil them and then snip little bits off the tentacles, and serve a plate of them to you in oil and a spicy sauce.  They served white wine (even though we thought we had asked for red wine) in bowls!
[At the end of the day, as we arrived in Arzúa, I had to put on a burst of energy to the reception desk, because I thought a bunch of Spaniards were vying for the same room!  Don said he was surprised by such sudden running when I was too, too exhausted!]

We had dinner downstairs, the Menu de Día. We had vegetable lasagna, Merluza Gallega (delicious red sauce!), Queso de Arzúa, red wine, bread, water, and quince jelly for the cheese!  Praise God, yummy!
